Protecting the Lake, is our concern !

Objectives:

To preserve and improve quality of the lake, the tranquility of its environment.

The quality of life of the residents is associated the quality of the lake.

Means:

To plant trees along Millette road in order to replace those destroyed by the beavers.
To identify creeks (inlets and outlets) and to analyze water at suitable places.
To take water samples periodically for analysis.
To discourage the use of 'seadoos' and other fast and noisy watercrafts.
To obtain the collaboration of local amateur divers to screen the bottom of the lake and to extract non natural objects (tires, parts of metal, wrecks, etc).
To prepare and distribute posters to promote our association, our objectives.
To carry out a neighbourhood watch to counter breaking and entry and vandalism around the lake.
To diffuse to members of the Association the results of analysis and other relevant information.
The Association requires a voluntary contribution of $25 per year. These funds ensure the payment of operation expenses: posters, paper, photocopies, analyses, banking, etc.

Achievements:

Water Analysis (1995)
Inventory of the bottom of the lake by our volunteer divers:
- Zones C33 through J39: nothing major to report, the small objects were withdrawn, of which an ice drill.
Trees were planted along the Millette road during the summer 2002.
Residents along the shore were met during the summer 2002, a short documentation was distributed.
A poster was distributed to the residents to promote the Association and the neighbourhood watch. This poster can be placed in sight on the property of members.
April 25, 2003: Installation of a sign on the north end of the lake (Millette road) to publicised neighbourhood watch.
June 30, 2003: A consultant was hired to carry out an analysis on the evolution of the lake. He spent several hours examining our lake. We received his conclusions in September 2003. A copy of his report was prepared for each member of the Association and distributed.
Autumn 2003: Several of the trees planted along the Millette road during summer 2002 were cut or broken; the trees were replaced and metal tutors were set up.
Summer 2004: Water analysis. See the results and compare with 1995.

Future projects:

Continuation of the screening of the bottom of the lake by our volunteer divers.

Water analysis will be made to compare the quality of current water with the results of the year 1995.

Follow up on recommendations by the water consultant.

Your collaboration:

The report on the state of the Lake (September 2003) provided us with many information on its condition. The consultant carried out his examination on June 30, 2003. His report gives us, more nor less a 'picture' of the state of the Lake in June 2003.

The Association already carried out an analysis of the water in 1995.

However, for better understanding the evolution of the Lake, its health, the quality of its water, the Association will carry out new analysis. If you already carried out one or more analysis of the water of the Lake, we invite you to communicate the results to us. We will compile them, they will be posted on this site and we will be able to follow the evolution of the Lake.
